How to be an advice columnist....  The only people who are lucky enough - are they? - to get into the agony aunt line of work through luck rather than skill, or perhaps you could say being in the right place at the right time, are people who are writers, nurses and doctors and celebrities. The rest of us have to get into it through having the ability to listen properly to the other person and how they feel about their situation and problem, weigh up all of their options without judging them or criticising them and then tell them how to end up happier than they are now. Some like to think this is easy yet if it is that easy how come there are not more people doing it? The people who are right for this are those who have had problems in their own lives and learnt from them, those who are kind and non judgmental, those who never criticise othes and realise there is a lot of "there but for the grace of God go I" in many situations and those who want to improve other peoples; lives but at the same time they also want to improve their own because by doing this they get the chance to work from home, to choose when, to choose how many hours for, to choose whether or not they work weekends or evenings rather than being told they must, they may even decide just to work one day a week if that suits them and decide which day that is. How many jobs are there where you can do that? And because this pays very well they can do this without losing out financially.
